About Jan

Jan Laurie has been a fabric artist for 25 years, beginning as a quilt maker. She is interested in depicting spiritual concepts of the Christian faith using abstract design, colour and texture.

Jan has shown her work in galleries, libraries, and liturgical art shows including the art show at the 1997 meeting of the General Council of the United Church of Canada.
Her work has been featured on the cover of The United Church Observer (1992). In the Chaplain’s office at the Cancer Centre for the Southern Interior (B.C., Canada) is Jan's fabric art that visually suggests the journey from life to death and to life beyond death. She has also made many stoles for congregations giving gifts to their clergy, for the President of B.C. Conference (U.C. of C.) and also for her clergy husband.
